Shwetha is an amazing entrepreneur who owns a lovely silver jewelry business called NR Silver jewels. We worked on a couple of collaborations and I have always loved her collections. When Shwetha approached me to give her dining room a makeover, I was beyond excited.
She wanted to make a statement with this room. She really loved the resin marble panel that I made for another project and requested if I could do something like that for her space as well. She wanted the room to feel sophisticated and warm, with of course, the DesiDIY touch to it.
Mood board
This was the first mood board we created for her space.
Shwetha loved the moody tones in the space, but she really wanted a dining table that would make everyone go “Wow!”. Swetha was ready to go bold with the choices. We wanted a marble dining table to create a focal point in the space. After a long search for marble tables and not finding the piece we liked, we decided to get a custom one made.
Furniture selections
We visited the local marble stone dealer to make selection for our table top. We chose a beautiful marble with bold veins and hints of green with gray.
Our next step was to explore designs for the dining table legs. We found a metal fabricator locally and met with him to design the legs for the table. The stone has large veins and we wanted to maintain the flow of the veins by going for a waterfall style on one end and gold metal legs on the other.
Here are the pictures of how the table was designed.
One side of the table has a waterfall edge, whereas we went with gold legs on the other side. We decided to go with black velvet chairs with gold legs to complement this piece. A vintage black storage cabinet fluted glass doors was the perfect addition to this space to make the space functional.
Wall designs
While we had those orders placed to get them done, we started working on the walls. We wanted to experiment with color and decided to go moody for this space. We chose Sherwin Williams Pewter Green for the entire room. It’s a cool green which adds elegance to any space.
Since Shwetha’s jewelry business is mostly traditional temple jewelry, I wanted to go for a modern transitional design with a few temple and vintage elements. The walls were a perfect spot to add an Indian element to the space. We decided to do temple mural wallpaper encased in picture molding flanked by resin panels on either side.
For the resin panels, I wanted to add some glam while maintaining a softness to the design and picked black and gold tones. I wanted to experiment the geode style look on the resin panels to give that “feel of a stream flowing near the temple“.
You can check on how to make the geode resin panel from my DIY site.
Lighting
Lighting is a very important element which will help tie in everything in the space. We went for a linear brass chandelier with globe shades. We also added sconces which were mounted against the resin panels. The light from the sconces light up the crystals on the panels beautifully.
Accessories
I chose clay, ceramic and brass accessories to soften up the space by introducing organic shapes. I believe that a plant is a must in any space. Apart from the floral stems used on the table and in the vase over the cabinet, we also added a white planter with a gold stand and faux plant.

And this is how the space looks with everything put together!

May i know how much the qhole project did cost along with labour and material.
I would say apart from the custom dining table, everything else were pretty reasonable.
